How to know if Day Dream Studios is right for me:

1

Where to start when finding the right artist?

When finding an artist it’s important to get clear on your vision so you can make sure that it aligns with the style, values, and ability of that artist. Try to look at what styles you like such as realism, fineline , black work, American/neo-traditional, etc. A good artist can help refine an idea—but clarity helps match  you to the right artist, not just any artist.

It’s important to research your artist as well to make sure they can give you what your heart truely desires. Clients should look for artists who specialize in the style they want.

  • Browse portfolios on Instagram or studio websites

  • Look for consistency, healed work, and technical precision

  • Ignore trends—focus on skill

The best tattoo artist for them is the one whose work already looks like what they want on their body. Once chosen, the client should trust the artist on:

  • Design adjustments

  • Placement and sizing

  • What will age well over time

A great tattoo happens when the client’s vision and the artist’s experience meet in the middle.

Evaluate Quality, Not Just Followers

The best thing to do is ask yourself what does a quality experience mean to me? Any reputable artist should have clean line work, smooth shading, and a tattoo that looks good after healing.

Understand that good work is an investment, that’s why it is so important to choose an artist that is going to understand quality tattoos take time, training, and intention.

Clear policies = safety, respect, and professionalism. A professional artist will be transparent about:

  • Consultations and booking

  • Deposits and pricing structure

  • Aftercare and expectations

  • Consent and medical disclosures

Tattooing is personal. Comfort and trust matter just as much as skill. Clients should also ask themselves:

  • Does this artist listen and explain clearly?

  • Do they feel respected and safe?

  • Does the artist care about their experience—not just the tattoo?

  • Is the studio calm/welcoming, organized/ sterile, and aligned with the artists aesthetic?

Understand That Good Work Is an Investment

A tattoo is permanent choosing quality over speed almost always pays off. Make sure your prioritizing fair prices over bargain hunting. Also be flexible about wait time for in demand artists, they’re likely the ones that will provide a custom thoughtful approach and will value your time above all else.

Ask yourself when saving for a tattoo:

  • What is my budget for this tattoo?

  • If this tattoo ended up costing 20–30% more than I expect, would I still feel okay?

  • Is this a simple design or something that needs detail, realism, or layering?

  • Have I budgeted for…Tip? Deposit (usually non-refundable)? Aftercare products? Time off work if needed? Travel or parking?

  • If something comes up (reschedule, longer session), can I handle it financially?
